Cambridge Major and Moscow State University Ink Deal

Novel Compounds provide pathway to new therapeutics

September 12, 2005, Germantown, WI USA: Cambridge Major Laboratories today announced it has entered into an agreement with Moscow State University to supply a range of novel building blocks and libraries developed in the laboratories of Professor Alexander Kurkin. The libraries are comprised of ten general classes of compounds including: Indoles, Isoxazoles, Spiros, Imidazoles, Pyridines, Pyrazoles, Piperidines, Furanes, Thiazoles, and Piperazines.

Under the terms of the agreement, the compounds will be synthesized in the labs of Professor Kurkin at Moscow State. Cambridge Major will market and distribute the compounds under the Cambridge Major name using the Company’s quality control systems to ensure product quality. The compounds will be available individually or as libraries to the pharmaceutical industry in North America. As demand for the building blocks increases, Cambridge Major will scale up the technology at its site in the US to supply developmental and commercial quantities in the North American market.

“This collaboration presents an opportunity for CML to support our Pharma customers with a new line of products of guaranteed quality, as well as seamless supply of larger quantities up to tens of kilograms.” said Micheal W. Major, President and CEO of Cambridge Major Labs. “Professor Kurkin's compounds are an excellent starting point for biologically active entities and the chemistry matches very well to CML's expertise and capabilities. The collaboration serves as an example of the potential of two independent institutions creating greater value in a global setting.”
