CML Dedicates Large Scale API Manufacturing Facility

US LARGE-SCALE MANUFACTURING FACILITY

CML dedicated its new large scale Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) plant on July 30, 2009. The event was attended by approximately 300 people with Wisconsin Governor James Doyle giving the keynote address. The theme of the event was reinvestment in domestic manufacturing infrastructure, and many of the speakers noted the need for a balance between lower cost off-shore manufacturing with the supply chain security that domestic manufacturers provide.

KEY NOTE SPEAKERS - Brian Scanlan, WI Governor Doyle, Professor Michael Santoro, Dr. Michael Major, Chancellor Carlos Santiago

CML decided to invest in the new facility after an exhaustive look for US-based API manufacturing assets. The company noted that while a significant amount of capacity exists in the Western hemisphere, it is mostly centered in Europe, leaving the US with a notable lack in high quality API assets. CML is positioning the facility as a niche commercial launch site, leveraging the company’s strong position in API development, and providing clients a one-stop-shop position to ensure API’s get rapidly to the commercial market with no questions concerning technical transfers, or supply chain security. CML is currently transferring its first commercial API to the new facility.
